Chinese New Year

Within the 5 hours of Chinese New Year, I've gone through an emotional rollercoaster. Maybe a couple. I was bored, humbled, happy, excited, frustrated, tired, angry, disgusted and all...

Well happy and excited because its the favourite season of the year... I mean who doesn't love a good dose of Chinese New Year, eh?

Angry and disgusted, why? Because I witnessed the ugliness of humanity just a bit into the new year. They were pushing, squeezing, scolding each other and totally just acting all too self-centredly. Comon' guys... it's the new year.. let's do some sharing and caring.

Nonetheless, it has been humbling helping out at the stall in Chinatown. I would never imagine myself shouting phrases incessantly in hokkien, mandarin and english.

"One-dollar-one-dollar-one-dollar laiii...." "Lu Cha Laiii...!!!" "Sah Kee Neng Kor" "Lorr geyyy"

It was fun despite an impending sore throat! Oh well, let's hope Chinese New Year can be totally enioyable for all of us and HUAT AH! everybody :D

When a wrong decision haunts you

IEF lecture has never been better, especially so when the lecturer showers you with attention, albeit bad attention.

She asked what grade I got for chinese.

A million thoughts raced through my mind, not knowing what response to give for fear of its repercussions. But then again, I made the choice back then, and should not have any qualms with letting people know my decision.

"Sorry ma'am, I didn't take Chinese. I took Chinese B..."

That followed with a lot of teasing by the lecturer and other mates after the class.

Brilliant! Now I won't have to face the shocked responses from my lecture mates that people usually give when they find out I took CL B. Well CL B is quite sad really, according to my ex-principal, a Merit in CL B (my grade) is worse than a C6 in Chinese Os.

Oh not to forget, I never expected my choice of taking Chinese B would put me in any situation of disadvantage. Looks like I was wrong. But then again, bad decisions are inevitable, so I guess just post this and move on, eh?

At least now we all learn one thing, it really doesn't matter how good or "impressive" you are because all it takes is one flaw to oust you from the running.

Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all...

Happy New Year

Roy says:
A simpler new year to you, Siurui

It was a puzzling yet interesting and unique new year greeting. So out of curiousity, I asked, "Simpler?".

And the reply?

Roy says:
because you're too complex
Roy says:
it's easier to be happier if you live life simple

That totally makes sense, and perhaps I might be a tad too complex at times and i'm unsure if i'm really happy enough.

So my new year resolution is... -drumroll

To be simpler.

How? I really don't know. But I'm sure in the course of the new year, I'll discover it somehow.

Happy New Year to all and may you all have an extremely fulfilling and a wholesomely enriching new year yet keeping it totally exciting and joyous.
