Coke

My fridge was filled with a carton of coke light.

Now it's half-empty.

I thought coming to Taiwan would help curb my Coke light addiction.

Update

Hi folks,

Just settled down in a Lan shop after trekking from Taipei Main Station to Ximending.

Honestly, their lan shops here are less than desirable.

First of all, it is filled with smoke, and polluted with noise.

Secondly, it is filthy. As i'm typing this, a mini cockroach is walking by, greeting me with its feelers. I say hi, then I blow it off.

Thirdly, the seat next to me is wet, someone spilled a drink or something and no one bothers.

Alas, this is my Taipei experience.

Weather here is horrid, constantly raining and drizzling coupled with misty skies that render travelling really boring and mood dampening.

Till then, I'm rui, Taipeiiiiii (I'm mimicking the Taipei correspondent for CNA)

Highlight of OITP

I spent the day entertaining a customer from Kuwait. I acted as translator as well as companion.

I feel cheap.

First Day Out

I saw the World's Tallest Building, the Taipei 101. It's seriously tall, but the mall... it's the World's Boringest.

I also saw Ximending, the supposed equivalent of our orchard road. Very young, vibrant and trendy but I was just bored. I was bored everywhere in fact. Tired too. Yea, see so boring I have barely anything to write on them.

Oh did I mention, I saw Guang Liang and some other 'star' at Ximending and 3 gay? male stars at Taipei 101. It seems to be commonplace here huh? They were all releasing albums, signing them and one of them was maybe promoting a movie. Not really sure. I want to see Jay Chou though. Is he releasing a new album soon?

And as I'm typing this, I have 3 layers on, my fingers are numb, and I just want a nice hot cuppa. Brr... The weather here is seriously CRAZY. As hot as Singapore on Saturday, as cold as Nepal on Monday. It's about 9 degrees now in Taipei. Apparently, it's snowing on some mountain in Taiwan.

P.S. My brother said LAN shops were everywhere. I couldn't even find a place to surf the net! It must be VERY different in Kaoshiung.

P.P.S No pictures during my stay here. No way to upload them. Will post them back when I get back soon. Real soon. Just 6 more weeks. I'm in denial, sigh.

Cabin Crew

I've finally found the answer to 'What's happened to all the pretty SQ girls?'

The answer: 'They've all gone to Jetstar.'

Greetings

Hi all readers!

Greetings from chilly Taiwan!

Life here isn't exactly great, but I'm surviving. The whole idea is to get out of my comfort zone and grow as a person.

So yea, I have grown. I cleaned a kid's butt after his business! How many of you NP people get to do that for ITP, huh? Beat that.

Anyway on a serious note, just a reminder to all to study hard and appreciate education. We need those pieces of fragile paper to get some cushy jobs in future. I know for sure I don't want to be a deliveryman or a factory operator all my life. Will explore more and post more.

Not much photo taking and travelling so far. I've been here only 4 days! Probably get out this weekend, but maybe cannot. Got to babysit.

Till the next post, cheers!

P.S. There's a mini farm behind with dogs, ducks, chickens and a whole lot of dung. Cool?

Jetting away...

So the big day has come... (no, i'm not getting married).

Will be embarking on a journey that seemed out of reach initially. What lies ahead is a mental obstacle, one I wholly created myself. When you're young and foolish you tend to look no more than 3m away, now that I'm older, I see farther - Chinese is essential in our little global world.

Hence, as punishment, I'll be thrown into Taiwan to take real-life, hands-on (mouth-on) lessons on Mandarin and Hokkien.

May I come home speaking like a true blue (yellow?) Chinese.

But along the way, I'll try to post bits and pieces of my exciting lesson ahead!

Hard work pays off? hmm...

'Don't worry. We all make mistakes. Don,t b 2 result concerned. Wat's impt is that u know ur studies. 2 me, able 2 look after urself and able 2 face d world 2 create ur life is wat matters. if u excel in ur studies, good. if not. able 2 work hard in life and b respected matters more. I was like that. Lousy in studies but i'm proud of myself.'
