Rants on a lazy sunday
Have you ever wondered whether Sheng Shiong's growing presence would threaten NTUC Fairprice's business?
Well, I have. But I think if I were NTUC's management, I'd hardly worry after grocery shopping earlier at SS. No doubt Sheng Shiong has its fair share of die-hards, I still think it is a rather confined market.
You walk in with a smile, because grocery shopping is just so fun, then it almost immediately turns into a frown.
WHY?
1) The place stinks.
2) The wet market section that sells the seafood and stuff is almost worse than the real deal wet markets. I think they are much more organised out there.
3) The place is so bloody cramp.
4) Everything is everywhere. The aesthetics kill the shopping mood.
5) There are rude shoppers that worsen the already terrible experience.
I think I definitely could nitpick on alot more other things, but you get my point.
I must say the motivations of shopping at Sheng Shiong largely revolve around its 'bargain prices'. Well I was eyeing a [yellow tail] that retails $22.05 at NTUC. At Sheng Shiong, it's $20.80. I figured NTUC would better deserve the $1.20 premium. But that's just me.
Nonetheless, I guess the savings can be rather significant if you're doing hardcore grocery stockups for the huge families. But then again, not everything goes cheap.
AHH WELL. Just me, a disgruntled kid, ranting away all day.. Pffft.

Grad Night at ParkRoyal was pretty ok. The food sucked. We got horrid seats, and hence a crappy view of the stage. But what made it 'pretty ok' was the meeting of ol' friends, abusing the photo-taking system, and I guess just being entertained by the rather hilarious and cool emcee.
It was followed by some drinks with a very odd combination of friends that were somehow interlinked in one way or another. So yea, quite cool la.
Should I post some photos up here? I should right? It serves like some bookmarks or references or backups if my computer ever dies on me again. And I tell you it happens often. But yea, maybe another time. It's a lazy Sunday. The weather is not helping. rawrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
